Smoke-free week

Sir, —Having witnessed a group of third-form pupils from Rangiora High School (mainly girls) smoking while they were walking home after school, I was astonished to read in “The Press” later that day (June 9) that Mr M. Thompson, of the Tobacco Institute, hopes that the forthcoming smoke-free week does not turn into an attack on smokers. I would have thought that the more smokers are harassed the better for their own sakes. — Yours, etc., M. A. WALLIS. June 9, 1986.
