In-flight bed for Pope
■ Ji.-’.-PA Wellington Pope John Paul II will have his own bed on a special Air New Zealand flight to Australia in November.
Details of the flight are still to be finalised, but it is believed that Air New Zealand has agreed to schedule a specially adapted Boeing 767, with bed, for the November 24 flight from Christchurch to Canberra.
The Pope will arrive in New Zealand on November 22, for a three-day visit, from Fiji in an Alitalia Boeing 747. Canberra Airport’s landing restrictions ruled out an aircraft as big as Alitalia’s jumbo.
