Junior badminton titles

The under 16 mixed doubles final at the recent Sunbatta South Island junior batminton championships in Timaru was an all-Canterbury affair, with Mark Brownlie and Charmaine Hoogeveen beating Kerry Williams and Rachel Hoogeveen in two sets.

The Hoogeveen sisters contained to win the girls’ doubles in straight sets and they did not drop a set in any contest. Rachel Hoogeveen, however, lost the singles final to the top seed, Nicola Baird, of West Coast.
