A fine second round of 69 enabled Chris Pemberton, of Waitikiri, to win the Canterbury qualifying round of the Winstone N.Z.P.G.A. national junior boys golf championship at the Harewood new course yesterday. A seven-handicapper, Pemberton had rounds of 80 and 69 for 149. His 69 began with four birdies and he managed four twos on the
par 3 holes. The second place-getter was Lyndon Cron, of Russley, with 76, 74 for 150. Two players tied on 151, Matthew Brownlie, of Kaiapoi, 75, 76 and Andrew Clarkson, from Lincoln, 77, 74.
Brownlie won in a play-off on the third hold. Pemberton, Cron and Brownlie will compete in the national final at Auckland in August.
