Another violent week-end
PA Wellington It was another violent week-end in Wellington — an indecent assault on a teen-age woman on Sunday evening, two street muggings, and machete attacks on a gang member are all now on police files. The police arrested six people after the two machete attacks on a single Mongrel Mob member
within hours overnight on Saturday and Sunday. However, they have yet to catch anyone for the other attacks. Detectives are asking for public assistance after the indecent assault on a young woman, aged 17, in a Johnsonville alleyway. She was walking up the track between Ironside and Ohariu Roads about ,10.30 p.m. when she was assaulted by a man the police believe was a fellow passenger on the bus on which she had just headed home from Wellington.
She screamed and resisted the offender, who ran off, dropping a tape recorder in his haste to get away, Detective Senior-Sergeant Bill Gregory, of Wellington C. 1.8., said.
