Charges dismissed
PA Tauranga Firearm charges against three Katikati youths have been dismissed in the District Court at Tauranga after four police witnesses failed to appear. Terry Gordon Clark, aged 26, a beneficiary, Eric Campbell Tennent,
aged 19, unemployed, and Mark Stephen Ward, aged 25, a P.E.P. worker, had each denied discharging a shotgun in Wharawhara Road on February 9. Sergeant Ron Lynch said the police were investigating a complaint relating to the nonappearance of the witnesses. Counsel for the trio, Mr Richard Blackwood, said he knew nothing about why the witnesses did not appear. “I gather there is some sinister undertone.” The Judge dismissed the charges without prejudice, saying the police could relay the informations if so wished.
