Andrew Sands, aged 18, who is employed by the North Canterbury Electric Power Board, Rang!ora, has been named New Zealand’s electrical apprentice of the year. He achieved 91 per cent in the 1985 New Zealand Trade Certification Board’s trade certificate examination in .electrical appliance servicing. A framed certificate and a set of electrical tradesman’s tools, were presented to Mr Sands at the fiftieth annual conference of the Institute of Electricians in Christchurch this month. It is the third time in five years that a South Island apprentice has won the award.
