Man charged with arson
PA Gisborne A man appeared in the District Court at Gisborne charged with arson after one of the week-end fires at Ruatoria. The man was remanded on bail of $lOOO to appear on March 5. An order was made to suppress his name.
The court appearance came after the arrest of
the man in Ruatoria earlier. The Police Commander, Superintendent Paul Wiseman, said the charge was. related to the burning of a house in Ruatoria about midnight on Saturday.
Mr Wiseman said the man was not a member of the group occupying the house at the time.
