Protests promised
Peaceful protesters aim to enligten the Queen and public about that Crown’s “default” on the Waitangi Treaty during her visit to Christchurch. They will herald the Royal couple’s arrival at Christchurch Airport on Friday afternoon with a peaceful picket. Protests would also be organised
for the rest of the Queen’s week-end visit, said an organiser of the Waitangi Action and Learning Coalition, Mr Jo Davies. The demonstrations would highlight the fact that the terms of the treaty had never been honoured by the Crown or its agents, said Mr Davies.
