Air display draws 20,000
PA Auckland A crowd of about 20,000 yesterday saw a display of historic and classic cars and an air show at Whenuapai Airfield An Air Force spokesman said the Wings and Wheels Classic raised about $50,000 for the Air Force Museum at Wigram, Christchurch. A feature of the air show was a display by the Air Force formation display team, the Red Checkers.
The displays were organised by the Royal New Zealand Air Force and the Thoroughbred and Classic Car Owners’ Club.
