Hellemans wins
PA Auckland John Hellemans yester-. day retained his national triathlon championship title at Milford Beach. His time of Ihr 59min 7s was more than five minutes faster than his winning time last year. Glenn Davies, of Auckland, was second and Brett Marshall, of Dunedin third. Marshall was well clear after the 1.5 kilometre swim but Hellemans caught him during the 40kilometre cycling leg. Allison Roe, in seven-
tieth place over all,, headed the women’s field from a fellow Aucklander, Sue Smith, after the cycling. Roe held that advantage on the run and improved her over-all placing to finish forty-first in a time of 2:18.21 — Imin Is slower than her winning time last year. Results.— J.
