Penalty considered inadequate
PA Wellington Senior stipendiary steward, Mr J. M. McCullough, has appealed against the penalty imposed by the Wanganui District Committee against the jockey, Gary Williams.
Williams had been found guilty Of failing to ride Karson on its merits when unplaced in a maiden race at Awapuni on October 9. The committee suspended Williams for three weeks and Mr McCullough considers the penalty inadequate. The appeal will be heard by appeal judges in Wellington on Friday, March 7.
Williams is due to end his suspension on March 1 and will be able to resume riding at Trentham on March 5.
