Spinks defence set
NZPA-AP New York Michael Spinks will defend the International Boxing Federation heavyweight title against Larry Holmes on April 19 in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to the fight promoters. “It’s been signed for the (hotel) Hilton,” said Butch Lewis, who is co-promoting the bout with Don King. "It’s been finalised,” he said.
Purses for the bout were not revealed. The rematch between Spinks and Holmes was announced on January 17 at Atlanta. Spinks, the former undisputed light heavyweight champion, won the federation title on a 15-round decision over the previously unbeaten Holmes on September 15. Neither fighter has fought since.
