Business skills mark new forestry board
Wellington reporter
The board that will establish the Government’s new Forestry Corporation has plenty of business expertise. The five members include Mr John Fernyhough, whose other directorships include Lion Corporation and the Development Finance Corporation, and Mr Alan Gibbs, an Auckland investment banker who also sits on the boards of
Ceramco, Freightways Group, and Bendon Industries.
Mr Gibbs will chair the establishment board.
Mr Brian Gaynor, a prominent financial analyst who is a partner in the sharebroker, Jarden and Company, is another appointee. The other two members are Mr Peter Radcliffe, corporate and international general manager of the Bank of New Zealand, and Mr lan Levington, a Min-
istry of Works engineer who has been the Public Service Association’s general treasurer.
The board will report to the Government on the form, financial structure and employment conditions of the new corporation.
The corporation will be required to run as a successful business in the growing, processing and marketing of forest products.
