Turner shares lead
NZPA-AAP Melbourne Two late blemishes cost the Dunedin professional, Greg Turner, a runaway lead in the $327,500 Australian Masters Golf Championship at Melbourne, yesterday. With just two holes to play at Huntingdale, Turner was continuing the great form which took him into equal second place at the recent Victorian Open. He held a card of six under and appeared to be well in control of his game, but he suddenly lost touch on the 17th to bogey the par-four hole then repeated the effort at the final hole to finish on
69 — four under par. Turner, aged 23, the New Zealand P.G.A. champion, overshadowed his fellow countrymen who failed to come to grips with par figures.
Peter Hamblett, who hit off in the first group of the day, carded 77, Frank Nobilo and Stewart Reese both had 77, and Simon Owen 75.
