S.C. papers returned
PA Wellington Almost 10,000 of last year’s School Certificate candidates have so far asked for the return of their, marked examination, scripts.
The closing date for requesting scripts is February 28, and it is expected they will be returned after March 31.
The Education Department’s director of administration, Mr Mark Canning, said that last year 19,384 students asked for their papers back, almost a third of the total New Zealand entry and more than twice as many as the previous year. About 70,000 individual scripts were returned, at a cost of $77,000. This is the third year that candidates have been able, to get their marked scripts back, after a decision by the Ombudsman in 1984.
