United trounces Western
Christchurch Brother United’s new English striker, Chris Riley, was among the goal-scorers when the national league team trounced Western, 6-0, in the pre-season soccer tournament at Rangers Park last evening. United led, 2-0, at half-time and its main scorers were Paul Harrison (formerly of Cashmere) and John Hansen who both found the back of the net twice. Keith Braithwaite and Riley added the other goals. The player of the match awards went to Hansen and Tim .Goodwin (Western). early game Woolston
W.M.C. fought back from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw with K.L.M. Cashmere. Cashmere had made a bold start with goals to Tony Orpwood after seven minutes and Mark Smith after 25 minutes, but Woolston replied with a goal to Michael Milwood and after 65 minutes Nell Lilley equalised. The player of the match awards were given to Josh Te Katt (Cashmere) and Milwood. .. . The Rangers-Budget House Sportswear tournament, will continue on Sunday when the other four teams will make an appearance.
