Works to resume killing today
All Canterbury works will be killing as usual today after two did not kill yesterday because of local disputes.
The two that did not kill yesterday were the Canterbury works of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company at Belfast and the Islington works of Waltaki N.Z. Refrigerating.
Tradesmen at the Canterbury works were suspended on Tuesday afternoon after they said they would not work overtime until they were paid arrears of overtime for last week, when their overtime was withdrawn because of the strike by shift workers and the stopping of the killing chains.
