in 1938 by Robert Forsyth Barr. Between 1948 and 1951, Mr Barr was joined in partnership by J. K. Skinner and J. M. Sidey. Mr Barr was a very successful Company Director and all three maintained a high profile in the community. By the early fifties, Forsyth Barr was the larges broking firm in Dunedin. Institutional work and company flotations occupied a significant part of the firm’s business through the fifties and sixties, as it does to this day.
The Partnership consists of five partners and has a support staff of 42. Forsyth Barr and Company provides the following services:- • Sharebroking for private clients and institutions • Portfolio . management • Co-ordinator of company flotations • The construction of new issues of equity and debt securities • Underwriting • Commercial mortgage funding
® Fixed interest investment • Corporate financial advice. Forsyth Barr and Company acts for 13 companies who have their equity or debt securities listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange and in 1985 acted as Organising ; Brokers and/or Underwriter for four Public Flotations. The firm transacts a ; considerable amount of “ business in through several broking houses.
