Prices for breeding ewes steady

Well bred ewes with sound mouths had the best of a sale of breeding ewes at Addington market yesterday. Prices for the better-qual-ity ewes were generally on a par with last week’s rates. Most top-mouthed annual draft sheep sold between $lO and $l3 while poor quality ewes were $4 to $7.

A feature of the market was a line of five-year-old shorn Romneys from the Estate S. Hall, Peraki, which

sold at $13.30. Four-year-old Corriedales, late-shorn, reached $15.50. Sales of early-shorn Corriedales were made at $B.BO to $12.40 and five-year-old shorn Coopworths reached $lO. Poor ewes sold.at less than $5. A yarding of medium-qual-ity two-tooth ewes attracted little interest The pick of the Corriedale two-tooths sold at $17.60 to $18.20 and Romneys reached $l7.
