Otago beats W.A.
PA Dunedin Otago came from behind twice to score the first of two wins against the touring West Australian men’s softball team at Dunedin on Sunday. Otago won the first match of the doubleheader, 6-5, but had too many guns in the second encounter and cruised to a 4-0 win. When Otago played its top line-up in the second match, the Australians struggled, particularly g3lagainst the pitching of the Canadian, Brian Rumsby. But in the first match the fired-up West Australian side took advantage of Otago’s second-string pitchers. The Australians led 3-0 and 5-3 in the first match, but collapsed in the face of an Otago batting onslaught at the finish to lose by a run in the final innings. _
