‘Art works’

A successful introductory art appreciation course last year has prompted the Robert McDougall Art Gallery to again run two courses for adults. The courses are planned for February and March. In four, two hour, sessions the gallery guides will introduce some of the ideas helpful in looking perceptively, understanding, and enjoying art. They use as their examples works currently on display in the Gallery and discuss the ideas associated with the differing

materials, styles, and categories of paintings and prints. Time is allocated for discussion and the course ends with coffee and time to chat with the guides and fellow course members. This year the course is entitled “Art works: a closer acquaintance.” It will run on Wednesday afternoons from 1.30 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. on February 26, March 5, 12 and 26, and also on Saturday mornings from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on March 8, 15, 22 and April 12. Enrolments are limited to 10.
