Emus Kiwis cricket
The touring Emus cricket team batted itself into a comfortable position in its match with the Canterbury Kiwis at Hagley Park yesterday. Two batsmen, S. Fredericks and G. C. Haworth, hit hefty centuries. Fredericks’ 141 was compiled in 347 minutes and 275 balls and Included 16 fours and one six while Haworth scored his 129 in 197 minutes and 168 balls. His innings included 10 fours and eight sixes. The Emus declared their first innings closed at 412 for
eight with D. Taylor 41 n. 0., and P. Worley 24 n.o', assisting the century makers. The Canterbury - Kiwis scored 176 in the first innings. ‘ The best of the bowlers yesterday were S. J. Roberts with three for 64, and G. W. Lund, three for 72. S. J. Hawker chipped in with one wicket for 69. The Canterbury Kiwis had scored 36 without loss in their second innings at stumps last night
