Sir,—The National Science Foundation and visiting U.S. Congressmen are highly critical of the cost of coming to the aid of the Footsteps of Scott expedition. Would a United States official care to comment on the cost and scientific value of a visit to -McMurdo by junketing politicians? — Yours, etc.,
