City man faces firearms charges
Blenheim reporter A Christchurch man appeared before Judge G. J. Sleeman in the District Court at Blenheim yesterday on firearms charges arising from an incident at a Picton motor camp on December 28. Maxwell John Granger, aged 27, a self-employed appliance dealer, was remanded without plea to February 17, in Blenheim, on charges of unlawful possession of a .22 rifle, presenting a firearm at Bernard Michael Eathome, discharging a rifle without reasonable cause, with reckless disregard for the safety of others, wilfully damaging a 1971 Chrysler car, the property of Francis George McKenzie, and assaulting Constable M. I. Drummond. He was remanded for the taking of depositions on the two indictable charges, and the other charges were adjourned without plea to the same date.
