Scheme uses rooms in quiet season

A new accommodation incentive scheme, Golden Key, will be launched in New Zealand next month. Members of the scheme will have access to free accommodation at participating hotels during periods specified by the hotel.

The only requirement is that guests must buy their morning and evening meals from the hotel during each day of their stay. Golden Key is based on a similar concept in Britain. It is being introduced in New Zealand by the Bray-

nart Group, an Auckland communications company.

The man promo, jg the scheme, Mr Jonathan Foley, says Golden Key aims to use hotel rooms vacant during the tourist low season. Hotels gain revenue from guests using bar and restaurant facilities.

Golden Key memberships, valid for one year, will not be available for puchase by the public, said Mr Foley. “It is envisaged that they will be used by commercial organisations as promotional or incentive tools.”
