Bob Simpson tipped
NZPA-AAP Sydney A former international, Bob Simpson, is being freely tipped as the full-time Australian cricket manager to take over from Bob Merriman when the latter returns to the Arbitration bench after the tour of New Zealand ending in late March. Already a former captain, lan Chappell, has declined a
survey being made of leading contenders for the job because of business pressures. Simpson, who turns 50 in February, is already heavily involved in N.S.W. cricket coaching and team management, country cricket in the Tooheys Cup and TV commentary, newspaper and magazine columns.
