Talks today on air freighter crew dispute

PA Wellington Representatives of the Airline Pilots’ Association will hold formal talks with Air New Zealand today on a long-standing demarcation dispute. The two parties met informally in Auckland yesterday, but failed to resolve the matter.

Instead, Air New Zealand told the association it wished to formalise talks by starting a formal disputes procedure today. An Airline Pilots’ Association spokesman, Captain Jerry Rees-Webbe, said

there had been no change in the dispute. A series of stopwork meetings throughout the country after January 23 was still “on the cards.” The dispute concerns the use of an American aircrew on an American plane chartered by Air New Zealand to fly freight to the United States.

Air New Zealand’s own freight-carrying DCS is not B emitted to fly to the nited States because of American noise regulations. The pilots want to establish their right to crew the freighter.
