Three dead in head-on collision
PA New Plymouth The police have released the names of a woman and her two young children who were killed in a head-on collision with a truck near Oakura, Taranaki, on Tuesday. They were Dianne Mary Hall; aged 28, Brenda Lee Hall, aged five, and David William Hall, aged two, of New Plymouth. An eyewitness described the wrecked car as the worst she had seen. The truck’s owner-driver, Mr Alan Morgan, aged 34, of Bell Block, near New Plymouth, was shaken but unhurt. He was carrying a 22tonne load of large rocks from a quarry to Port Taranaki as part of a rockdumping effort to stabilise the Maui offshore pipelines.
