Century to Rutherford
PA Alexandra Otago took first innings points but the ball is in Northern District’s court after the second day of the Shell Trophy cricket match at Molyneux Park today. Ken Rutherford’s fourth first-class century (105) highlighted Otago’s innings of 261 for four which was made in 345 minutes and 99.4 overs. Warren Lees, the Otago captain, declared one ball after Otago passed Northern Districts’ first innings total of 257 when Derek Walker hit a spanking straight drive off Steve Scott for four.
Northern was thus given the last hour in which to build a lead but it could manage only a modest 31 without loss in the 17 overs before stumps. NORTHERN DISTRICTS First innings 257 Second innings R.
