Armed man yields to police
An armed man surrendered to , the police after being holed up in a Geraldine house for two hours yesterday morning, ,the Press Association reported. Timaru armed offenders squad members, who had surrounded the house, arrested the man at 11.20 a.m. He was being held at the Timaru Police Station and charges were pending, said the Timaru police last evening.
It is understood that the man barricaded himself into the house after a domestic upset. The incident began when a man in his early 20s was seen at 8.50 a.m. walking along the street waving a shotgun. The police were alerted and people nearby were asked to leave their homes while the police surrounded the home. No-one was injured in the incident.
