Sunnyside Hospital
Sir,—l agree wholeheartedly with Marjory Carson (January 8) about the need for more information on Sunnyside and mental illness. My mother spent nine months at Cluny Villa in Sunnyside, as she has Alzheimer’s Disease. It was during that time my admiration and gratitude for the way the staff coped, under some very trying conditions, grew each week. Their work can be very stressful and conditions far from ideal with up to 30 confused people needing constant care. They not only de-
serve a pay rise, they deserve a special commendation as well. There is more information now about Alzheimer’s Disease and related disorders, thanks to A.D.A.R.D.S. and those concerned with mental health, but it is people like the dedicated staff at Cluny Villa that we will always be grateful to.—Yours, etc., JANE F. WILSON. January 10, 1986.
