Gallion forced to miss Scotland clash

NZPA-AFP Paris Jerome Gallion, the French scrum-half, has withdrawn from the five nations match with Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday. He twisted a knee when training and pulled out of his match for his club, Toulon, on Sunday. Pierre Berbizier, of Agen, who played in the two tests

in Argentina last June when Gallion could not tour, replaces him. Berbizier has won 15 caps for France, most of them between 1981 and 1984, when Gallion was out of favour. Gallion’s loss this time however, will be a blow to the French, who have already had to replace the outside-half, Jean-Patrick

Lescarboura, with Guy Laporte, recalled after a five year absence. Berbizier’s pass under pressure is less than reliable and, with a kicking flyhalf, the talented French backs might not see much of the ball. Daniel Dubroca, who makes his international debut as hooker against Colin Deans, a British Lions hooker, had a mixed game for Agen, being beaten twice on his own put-in. Agen lost for the first time this season, beaten 12-3 by Dax. Guy Ramon of Narbonne is the replacement scrumhalf.
