New sire for Cambridge
PA Wellington A significant addition to New Zealand’s stallion ranks has been made with the acquisition of the group one winner, Noble Peer, for Stuart Munro’s new Chiquita Park Stud, near Cambridge. Noble Peer will be the second group one winning son of Sir Tristram to go to stud in New Zealand. The first, Grosvenor, is already attracting strong market attention. Noble Peer raced 15 times for six wins in a career curtailed by injury. His principal wins weres in the V.R.C. Australian Cup, group one over 2000 m, and the V.A.T.C. Schweppes Cup, group three, over 1600 m. He had been set for the A.J.C. Derby by his trainer, Bart Cummings, when injured. Noble Peer comes from the same female family as Sir Tristram’s sire, Sir Ivor,, and this line breeding, coupled with two extra crosses of Selene (dam of Hyperion), makes an outstanding pedigree. Like Sir Tristram, his pedigree is free of Hyperion himself, making an attractive cross for mares carrying his bloodline. Selene is a direct female ancestress of Sir Tristram, Icelandic and Star Way — three of New Zealand’s best sires. Noble Peer’s dam is the imported Puzzi, by Dancer’s Image, a son of Native Dancer. Puzzi is a halfsister to 10 winners, including the dams of a group one winner, Agua Blanca, a group two winner, Cato Double, and a stakes winner. Double Liz.
Noble Peer will stand at $BOOO in his first season and is being syndicated in 50 shares of $25,000 of which 30 are being retained.
