Trade deficit cut
PA Wellington New Zealand’s imports in November exceeded exports by $144.3M, according to preliminary trade figures from the Government Statistician. This was down from ah excess of $232.5M in November the previous year. During November New Zealand had exports of $809.9M and imports of $954.2M. This compared with exports of $920.1M and
imports of $1152.6M in November 1984. The estimated trade deficit for the first five months of the trade year is J759.7M, well down from a deficit of 51285,2 M
The total deficit for the full trade year ended June 1985 dropped back to $1156.8M, with export surpluses recorded in February, March and May last year.
