Junior tennis
PA Wellington North Shore players won the boys’ and girls’ singles at the national 14s tennis championships at Mitchell Park, Lower Hutt, yesterday. In the boy’s singles, Troy Tipene, the second seed, won an error-ridden match against Wellington’s Dougal Crisp, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. In the girl’s singles, Annabelle Newdick was too strong for Tracey King, of Auckland, overpowering her, 6-1, 6-0, in 40 minutes. King is a year younger than Newdick and has another year in the grade.
