PA Hamilton Top price of $54,000 at the inaugural mixed sale of thoroughbreds at Denby Lodge, Cambridge, was paid by the Riverleigh Park Stud, New Plymouth, for the broodmare, Cresa D’Onde. Cresa D’Onde, which was foaled in 1974, was sold in foal to My Sir Avon. She is by Crest of the Wave from Tolunda and is a sister to the New Zealand Derby winner, Classic Wave. The Mapperley Stud, of Matamata, paid $40,000 for the well-performed race mare, Avon Ann, whose wins included the group 3 Ellerslie Summer Cup. Avon Ann, by Avon Valley from Mary Ann, had a filly foal at foot by Prince Echo and is in foal to the same sire.
