Yachts’ slow progress
PA Auckland Shadow of Switzerland and SAS Baia Viking, the two yachts yet to finish the second leg of the round-the-world race, are making slow progress in the Tasman Sea.
The skippers of both yachts reported they were beating into headwinds yes-
terday. Shadow was still 400 miles from Auckland and SAS Baia Viking about miles from the finish. Whitbread race officials in Auckland do not expect Shadow of Switzerland to finish before Tuesday. SAS Baia Viking is not likely to arrive before next Sunday.
