Jews in the Soviet Union
Sir,—T. R. Loudon in his letter of January 2, provides facts on what the treatment of Jews in the Soviet Union is like. Any situation where one particular group of people is irrationally singled out and victimised is wrong. As long as Jews are not permitted to leave the Soviet Union they come into this camp. Meanwhile we hear much hue and cry about the black people in South Africa. If the solution to that problem is to ban trade with their country, then without hesitation we should cease all trade with the Soviet Union. As long as we continue this trade we are continuing to pardon a practice which we should not accept as principled people. We must be consistent in our stand against apartheid. — Yours, etc., J. NEWBERRY. ' January 7, 1986.
