Victory for Spurs
NZPA-Reuter London A substitute, Clive Allen, gave the kiss of life to Tottenham’s ailing season with an extra-time winner in yesterday’s English FA Cup third round replay against Oxford. Allen, who had replaced the tiring Osvaldo Ardiles midway through the second half, slid home a low cross from the English international, Chris Waddle, in the 113th minute.
Oxford, beaten 5-1; by Tottenham in a league match a month ago, had deservedly gone ahead with a fine volleyed goal by its top scorer, John Aldridge, in the 31st minute. It held that lead until midway through the second half when Waddle ran on to a Glenn Hoddle free kick to score from 10 metres. Tottenham is away to Stoke or Notts County in the next round.
