Campers attacked
The Christchurch police were late last evening following a strong lead into an armed attack on four campers at Coes Ford. A firearm was produced and softball bats used as four men attacked a group of four campers about 6 p.m. Three male campers suffered cuts and bruises, said a spokesman for the Christ-
church police. None was seriously hurt. The fourth camper, a woman, successfully fled the attackers. The attack appeared to be related to a previous dispute between campers at the ford, said the spokesman. The four attackers leftthe scene in a car. No further details were available late last evening.
