Fluoridation
Sir, — I. A. Hitchcock (January 2) mentions “both sides in the fluoridation argument.” To clear the air, let us identify the sides. We have the “antis” and we have the Department of Health. These are the two sides. Scientists generally are not involved. To them the siue
is dead — on its record, fluoridation is safe and effective. The Royal Society of New Zealand is a scientific society and has a branch in Christchurch. At regular intervals it puts on addresses by prominent scientists from all disciplines. Fluoridation is never a topic. To repeat, the horse is dead, just as the Flat Earth Society in England is dead. Thalidomide was introduced and immediately caused casualties. Fluoride ion at high dilutions in drinking water has been about since mankind first appeared on the Earth and still has to claim a victim, even at dilutions around 10 p. p.m. Who Killed Cock Robin?
