Barnett third in darts
A Timaru darts player, Lilian' Barnett, finished third equal in the women’s British Open yesterday, three weeks after winning the world masters title. Barnett, a 42-year-old member of the South Canterbury club, lost her semifinal, 2-3, in London to a Staffordshire player, Sharon Colclough. Colclough was beaten, 3-1, in the final by another En-
glishwoman, Gwen Sutton. Barnett said she recorded two scores of 180 yesterday but “went to the pack at the end.” However, she was the only top player to gain valuable points towards world rankings. The Timaru star is now aiming for the Mediterranean Open in Spain at the end of January and hopes to go from there to the Dutch Open.
