The urge to censor Enid Blyton’s books off the shelves of children’s libraries seems tb have waned in recent years. The books have proved more resilient than their critics — which may say something about the natural good sense of children. Enid Blyton was born in 1897. Her first book appeared in 1922 and up to her death in 1968 she had written more than 400 titles. She was the first children’s author to appear in paperback editions on a large scale. Her books continue to reappear. Among the latest paperback editions are those produced by Collins/Fontana in which three titles are bound in a single volume. The sample sent for review contained three favourites — “The Family at Red-Roofs,” “Those Dreadful Children,” and “The Put-em-Rights” (478 PP-, $9.95).
