Toad ointment applauded
NZPA-AFP Peking A traditional Chinese medicine research institute in Shanghai has developed a toad cake ointment capable of relieving pain from various cancers, the Xinhua News Agency said. The ointment, developed by the Shanghai College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, was among discoveries to win a first class prize from the Public Health Ministry, said the news agency.
The ointment achieved an efficacy rate of 90 per cent, the report said, without giving further details.
The Ministry had approved 104 scientific research results, including 24 in traditional Chinese medicine and 80 in Western medicine and allocated 10 million yuan ($6.18 million) to aid medical research this year, the report said.
