South Africa
Sir,—Regular readers of your columns trill be aware that L. R. Wilkinson has sound first-hand knowledge of the South African multi-racial problem. His recent antagonist, Mr Eber Martin, a spokesperson for Hart, states that he is not short of answers. Agreed. Hart has never been short of answers, but so often have their answers been wrong. In this remarkable day and age, even our elected leader appears to side with the black Africans at the expense of the whites. The Americans are the “baddies,” the Russians the “goodies.” The generals are geriatrics, and written off as such. The pink and red activists are the ones who take the trouble to write. Goebbels once showed that if you repeat a lie or a mistruth often enough, people would believe you eventually. Perhaps Mr Eber Martin would be good enough to state the extent of his personal knowledge of Africa. Readers could then make their own assessments of the value of his opinions—Yours, etc., C. W. BROMLEY. December 16, 1985.
