‘Pragmatic approach to aviation’
PA Auckland The Government has taken a pragmatic approach to international aviation, according to the president of the Tourist Industy Federation, Mr Duncan Hamilton. He said it was adopting a more liberal approach to encouraging increased competition and freer access for international airlines. The policy, says Mr Hamilton, took note of the fact that international air route rights were not dere-
gulated. « He said that when the *• Ministry of Transport nego- “ tiated the entry of new ® carriers it would not give anything away without re- » ciprocal rights for Air New ” Zealand. Z “They will not give some- 7 thing of value without get- 2 ting value in return.” New Zealand, he said, * was now attractive to overseas carriers who * wanted to bring visitors here.
