Boon scores 123; Aust. 248/4
NZPA-AAP Adelaide A century to David Boon has put Australia in a commanding position at the end of the first day in the first test against India at Adelaide Oval. Boon scored 123 yesterday to lead the Australian assault along with Greg Ritchie, who scored an •unbeaten half-century, and the captain Allan Border who made 49. At stumps Australia was four for 248, with Ritchie on 55 and David Hookes on two. Boon’s century was his first in Test cricket and eclipsed his previous best Test score of 81 against New Zealand in Sydney recently.
His innings was finally brought to a close by the Indian captain, Kapil Dev, who picked up three wickets yesterday.
