University Vacancies UNIVERSITY OF CANTERBURY SENIOR LECTURER OR LECTURER IN CIVIL ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS are Invited for a position as above, in the Department of Civil Engineering. The successful applicant will be required primarily to teach and examine undergraduate and post-graduate courses in highway and pavement engineering, to teach some courses In transportation engineering, and to administer and supervise research using the Department’s full scale Highway Test Track. This Installation of up to date technology Is Phase 1 of a planned computing development over the next few years. A Technician Is required to assume responsibility for the malntenace of the equipment (excluding the Micro VAX Itself). Applicants should hold an appropriate qualification and have experience In the maintenance of micro com-puter-based systems. Salary will be In accordance with qualifications and experience In the Senior Technician scale: $F10,299 - 13,446. THE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC APPLIED STATISTICIAN (POST 85/63) APPLICATIONS are Invited for the above position which Is located In the Institute of Research, Extension and Training In Agriculture (IRETA) on the Alafua Campus of the University in Western Samoa. Main responsibilities of the post are research, extension and training activities but some teaching duties may be Involved. Duties Include: To commission, train operators and advise on the purchase of software for the microprocessors. To establish a service providing advice on experimental design and undertaking the analysis of experimental data for the agricultural departments of the region using radio satellite communication and data transfer. To contribute to the theoretical aspects of courses in experlemental design and analysis for undergraduate students and an advanced course for postgraduate students in the School of Agriculture. Applicants should possess a first degree In mathematics, computing or statistics, and postgraduate qualifications or appropriate experience in applied statistics with proficiency In computing, and the ability to speak and write English fluently. Experience in application of statistics to agricultural experimentation and the modelling of biological systems would be desirable.
