Kumara consolation
In anticipation of a large number of entries for the $17,500 Sweetman Corcoran Centennial Nuggets on Saturday, January 11, the Kumara Racing Club has programmed a $4500 class 2 event for its annual meeting. With the Nuggets limited to 12 starters, the class 2 event, over 2000 m, will act as a “consolation” race for lighter-weighted entrants in the feature failing to secure a start.
To mark the centenary presentations of gold will be made to the jockey and trainer of the feature race winner next month.
Total stakes for the meeting will be $47,800, an increase of $14,700 on last season.
